Technically as I type this it Thursday morning here at "Middle of Nowhere" Ohio. But, I have my laptop still synchronized to Louisiana time. (insert evil laugh).
I digress, I spend Wednesday afternoons working at the Delaware County Historical Society research library and (Nash House) museum. This week, one of the elementary schools, within the Olentangy School District, had their third graders visit the Nash House museum and be quizzed by Brent Carson over Delaware history. I caught the end of their visit and got to clean up after they left (leftover mud left on the floor from their lunch break at a local park prior to their visit here).
Normally, I hide in a back corner of the research library, scanning old photographs from around Delaware County (of which will provide most of my content on future Wednesdays). This time I only got around to scanning three photos, two photo negatives, and one 2-D object. The two dimensional item will today's topic. We found about twenty or so wooden nickels, that were made for Delaware's sesquicentennial back in 1958. So even back in 1958, downtown shops in Delaware were worried about losing business.
